Galilee Dreamers

The Program

Galilee Dreamers brings together select groups of Jewish and Arab high school students and teachers from Israel in a transformative program including travel to communities in different parts of the world. Together, the teens from Israel build shared society in the Galilee as they help young people worldwide to learn about the complexity and potential of life in Israel. Together, they all dream of building a different world for tomorrow.

Galilee Dreamers creates an intimate cohort consisting of four students from an Arab high school, either Al Bashara in Sachnin or Al Bian in Deir al- Asad, and four students from a Jewish high school, either Ort Psagot in Karmiel or Misgav in the district with that same name. This year, two new schools have been invited to join, a Bedouin school and a Druze school, both in the area of Oranim College. The students, together with their teachers, travel and learn together.

β€œI feel like we changed the American teens’ ideas about the situation in Israel between Arabs and Jews.”

The Galilee Dreamers have travelled to the US since 2016. The group visits Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC. Israeli students spend time in various American schools, including Jewish day schools, public schools, and non-Jewish private schools.

While in the States, Galilee Dreamers are hosted by local youth groups and synagogues, and enjoy home hospitality with local families in each community they visit. Galilee Dreamers often stayed at the homes of students attending the schools they visited, creating a powerful experience for both the Israeli students and the Americans families.

β€œThe conversations between the Galilee Dreamers and our students always spill out and continue into the hallways and during lunch!”
